Workshops for 2026
Our workshops give you confidence to engage with and develop your garden and outdoor space. Details of the workshops on offer this year are below. At each workshop a variety of plants will be available for purchase.

Greenery and garlands
28th November / 4th December
Creating natural Christmas decorations from your garden
An exclusive workshop held in the beautifully decorated potting shed of Prospect House with atmospheric music to get you in the mood for Christmas. Craft your own festive Eden from nature’s bounty.
To include:
-
Seed head baubles
-
Table centrepieces from evergreens and berries
-
Organic garlands
-
Homemade festive treats and seasonal drinks provided.
We will provide all the natural materials and floristry equipment. Additional embellishments will be for sale including ribbons and candles. Feel free to bring any favourite decorations to be integrated into your creations.
This workshop runs from 10.00am to 12.30pm on 28th November and from 6.00pm to 8.30pm on 4th December.
The course cost is £50.
This course will be led by Georgina Bordewich and Cathy Kitchingman.



Dazzling Dahlias Masterclass - 12th September
How to grow and nurture dahlias
To include:
-
Learn how to grow and arrange Dahlias - the most profligate of flowers that will give you buckets of blooms through summer to the frosts.

We will show you horticultural techniques to feed, ward off pests and stake and store the plants.
-
Demonstration of gorgeous floral arrangements involving dahlias.
-
You will go home with a posy of the voluptuous flowers.
This workshop runs from 10.00am to 12.30pm.
It will be held in the garden and potting shed at Prospect House, Burton Leonard, HG3 3RS.
We will provide refreshments: tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
The course cost is £45.

Saturday 13th June - NOW FULLY BOOKED
How to grow a garden full of flowers
To include:
-
Learning the optimum mix of shrubs/perennials/bulbs and annuals for maximum flower output.

Keeping the plot productive throughout the year: potting out, pinching out, feeding, cutting back etc.
-
Learn techniques when to sow and plant what when.
-
How to harvest and condition your flowers for longevity.
-
There will be a floristry demonstration to give ideas on how to use seasonal garden plants..

We will finish by making small posies to take away.

Growing lists and 'when to do what' lists will be provided as well as recommendations for further reading.
This workshop runs from 10.00am to 1.00pm.

Grow your own flowers for cutting
To include:

Planning: optimise your space, whether in a separate bed or in an existing border, and choose which flowers to grow for maximum output

Keeping the plot productive throughout the year: potting out, pinching out, feeding, cutting back etc.

Learn techniques for sowing seeds and avoiding pitfalls

How to harvest and condition your flowers for maximum flower output.

There will be a floristry demonstration to give ideas on how to use seasonal garden plants..
